Location
Huaraz is at 3091 m of altitude, in the heart of the Callejon de Huaylas, Capital of the Chavin Region with a population of approx.160 000.
Since the 1970 earthquake the city has been completely rebuilt.
Huaraz has since become a Tourist mecca and a great starting point for any travels into the Huascaran National Park, Chavin de Huantar, Puyas Raimondi / Pastoruri Willkahuain, Expeditions and Trekking in the Cordillera Blanca and Huayhuash.
